On 16th November 2023, Professor LI Huahzou, a tenured professor from the University of Alberta, Canada, was invited to give an online lecture entitled "CO2 Capture and Storage: Development Status and outlook" to students and faculty members from College of Construction Engineering. Professor CAO Pinlu, Vice Dean of the college, hosted the lecture, which was attended by above 30 faculty members, PhD and Master's degree students, including Professor LIU Baochang, Head of the Department of Exploration Engineering.

Prof. LI Huazhou's main research field is enhanced recovery technology and CO2 geological storage technology He has proposed an improved binary equation of state, which can be used to simulate the phase behaviour of conventional and unconventional reservoir fluids more accurately, and has established a set of computational software for the phase behaviour of reservoir fluids.

The lecture covered the basic principles of CO2 drive and CO2 storage technology and the various implementation methods derived from it, the field engineering practice of this technology in Canada, and the problems and challenges encountered so far, which are rich in content and broad in scope. After the lecture, Prof LI Huazhou had further academic exchanges and discussions with the faculty and students of our college.

The lecture provided a valuable learning and communication platform for teachers and students from the college. After the lecture, participants expressed that they had benefited a lot from this meeting, broadened their academic horizons, and gained the inspiration of applied technology to scientific research and actual production through the sharing of experience and knowledge in the field of international cutting-edge technology. The college also further deepened its cooperation with the University of Alberta in Canada, and we expect to carry out more forms of cooperation in the future. College of Construction Engineering will make full use of the global high-quality educational resources, continue to invite well-known experts and scholars domestically and abroad to carry out various academic exchange activities, to meet the needs of teachers and students to improve their academic and scientific research capabilities and carry out external exchanges and cooperation.
